En rase campagne ...
Photo d'affiche électorale à Tôkai-shi (東海市).
Tôkai-shi est une ville située
au nord de la presqu'île de Chita (知多半島)
non loin de Nagoya (名古屋).
M. Ito Tadahiko est le candidat du parti Libéral
Démocrate Jiminto (自民党); Parti dominant la vie politique
depuis la fin de la deuxième guerre mondiale.
Le slogan est très ambitieux quand on connait
la presqu'île de Chita. Grosso modo il est écrit :
"De la presqu'ile de Chita construisons
un Japon lumineux (plein d'avenir)!"
"Courage, passion, réactivité"
La statue de tanuki (狸) ou chien viverrin.
Une des légendes japonaise concernant cet animal raconte
que le tanuki est capable de se transformer en humain
et de changer des feuilles d'arbre en argent.
Il peut ainsi acheter du saké dont il est très friand
aux commercants. Une fois à l’abri, il sirote tranquillement
sa boisson préférée malhonnêtement acquise,
alors que le commerçant stupéfait
voit sa monnaie redevenir feuillage…
Un petit arnaqueur notre Tanuki, non?

Liberal Democratic Party (Jiminto) has ruled
for most of the years since its founding after World War II.
Regarding the Chita peninsula context, a challenging slogan
is written on the poster. Roughtly we can read :
"From Chita peninsula, let's take off for a bright/promising Japan!
Bravery, Passion & Reactivity!"
The "statue" of Tanuki (Japanese Raccoon dog).
They have been part of Japanese folklore since ancient times.
One of japanese tales about the mischievous tanuki
tells that they can transform into human
and also turn leaves into fake money.
The Tanuki is said to love Japanese sake. He usually purchases
bottles of sake with fake money made from leaves.
After the transaction astounded sake shopkeeper
discovers that money turn back into leaves
while Tanuki sips his favorite beverage.
What a swindler our funny Tanuki!
